Privacy policy

South Bay Water Heater Connect ("we," "the service") is a free referral service operated through the website southbaywaterheater.com and the phone number published on it. This policy explains what information we receive, why, and what happens to it.
Calls may be recorded
When you call our number, the call may be recorded for quality assurance, training, and to document the referral (for example, which contractor your call was connected to). California law requires all parties to consent to the recording of a confidential call; an announcement at the start of the call lets you know recording may occur, and continuing the call after that announcement constitutes your consent. If you do not want to be recorded, say so at the start of the call or contact us through the website instead.
Information we collect
- Call information: your phone number, the date, time, and duration of the call, the call recording, and the details you share for routing — typically your city, the type of work you need, and basic facts about your current water heater.
- Website messages: if you use the message form instead of calling, we receive your name, phone number, city, the service you selected, your preferred callback time, and anything you write in the message box. The form is transmitted through our form provider and delivered to us by email.
- Website usage: like most websites, our hosting provider logs basic technical information (IP address, browser type, pages visited). We use privacy-respecting analytics only to understand which pages are useful; we do not build advertising profiles of visitors.
- We do not collect payment information — you pay the contractor you hire directly, never us.
How your information is used
Your information is used for one purpose: connecting you with a contractor and operating this referral service. Specifically:
- The details you provide (city, job type) are shared with the independent contractor your call is connected to, so they can respond, quote, and schedule. The same applies to website messages: your message is passed to the contractor we connect you with so they can call you back.
- Call recordings and logs are used for quality review, dispute resolution about what was agreed in a referral, and improving the service.
- Aggregated, non-identifying statistics (e.g., how many calls asked about tankless units) may be used to improve our information pages.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers, advertisers, or marketing lists. Your details go to the contractor you are connected with for the job you called about — not to multiple companies for general marketing. Contractors are independent businesses with their own privacy practices; their handling of information you give them directly (for example, when they visit your home) is governed by their own policies.
Retention and your choices
Call recordings and referral logs are retained only as long as needed for the purposes above and then deleted. You may request that we delete your call recording and referral details by calling (408) 555-0100 and identifying the date and number you called from; we will honor deletion requests except where a record must be retained for legal or dispute-resolution reasons.
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. The commitments above — no sale of personal information, purpose-limited use — are how we operate regardless of which rights you invoke.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
